COURSE AIM:
This unit standard is for people who need to conduct internal or external moderation of outcomes-based assessments. The assessments could be in terms of outcomes defined in a number of documents, including but not limited to unit standards, exit level outcomes, assessment standards, curriculum statements and qualifications.

At the end of the course, delegates will be able to:


From a workplace perspective:

  • Demonstrate understanding of moderation within the context of an outcomes-based assessment system;
  • Plan and prepare for moderation;
  • Conduct moderation;
  • Advise and support assessors
  • Report, record and administer moderation, and
  • Review moderation systems and processes

From a personal perspective:

  • Identify and solve problems using critical and creative thinking
  • Work effectively in a team using critical and creative thinking
  • Organize and manage oneself and ones activities
  • Collect, analyse, organize and critically evaluate information
  • Communicate effectively
  • Demonstrate the world as a set of related systems

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This unit standard is for people who conduct internal or external moderations of outcomes-based assessments and people who have already completed the Assessor course and would like to moderate programmes as well.

PROGRAMME ASSESSMENT FOR COMPETENCE:

Candidates are provided with easy to complete a Portfolio of Evidence (PoE). The PoE is started during class time and is usually completed by the end of the final (3rd) day.  The facilitator assesses this work, provides feedback, and if the candidate is competent, he/she is certificated by Dionysus and results are uploaded to ETDP Seta, who issues an official statement of resuls to the candidate.
