Qualification Title: National Certificate: Management (Team Leader) Duration – 10 months contact time. Course Aim: The purpose of the qualification is to empower learners to acquire knowledge, skills, attitudes and values required to operate confidently as junior managers (Team Leaders, First Line Managers, Supervisors and Foremen) in the workplace, and to respond to the challenges of the economic environment and managing people in the changing world of work. Who should attend? The National Certificate in Management: Level 3 is intended for personnel already employed and other learners who intend to follow a career in management. These positions include but are not limited to team leaders, supervisors, first line managers and foreman, where an employer has other employees reporting to him/her. Programme Rollout and Modularisation: This learnership leads to a full qualification, and is offered as 6 x 4 day modules over about 10 months (depending on workplace production peaks and downtimes). The modules are titled:
Programme Assessment for Competence: Candidates are provided with easy to complete “own work booklets” which combine to form the Portfolio of Evidence (PoE). They start the PoE during class time, and complete a few tasks on their own between each module. The facilitator assesses this work, provides feedback, and if the candidate is competent, he/she is certificated by the Services SETA. No exams are written. Who should attend? This qualification is intended to build the knowledge and skills required by employees in any industry who are currently working as/being groomed for junior management positions. It is intended to empower candidates to acquire knowledge, skills, attitudes and values required to operate confidently as managers of groups of people in the changing world of work. Programme Rollout and Modularisation: This learnership leads to a full qualification, and is offered as 5 x 5 day modules over about 8 to 12 months (depending on workplace production peaks and downtimes). It is preferred that the modules are done over five consecutive days every 5 - 6 weeks for maximum learning transfer to occur. The modules are titled:
Programme Assessment for Competence: Candidates are provided with own and group work activities to complete a Portfolio of Evidence (PoE). They start the PoE during class time, and complete a few tasks on their own between each module. This often involves the collection of naturally occurring evidence at the workplace. The facilitator assesses this work, provides feedback, and if the candidate is competent, he/she is certificated by the Services SETA. No exams are written.
