Duration and Focus
The modules are offered over 1 year, 3 days a month. They focus on: - Communicate in a variety of ways in a food and beverage manufacturing environment.
- Maintain quality assurance and monitor critical control points in a food and beverage packaging manufacturing environment.
- Operate a context specific range of automated packaging equipment.
- Solve problems and improve an automated packaging process.
The elective components of this qualification allows learners to gain specialist knowledge, skills and insight into the areas of filling bottles/cans, closing bottles/cans, labeling, packaging/unpacking or washing bottles.
At the end of this Learnership, learners are able to: - Monitor HACCP & occupational safety
- Operate the filling and closing process on an automated packaging line
- Demonstrate an understanding of microbiology in a food handling environment
- Demonstrate an understanding of basic machine operations in a manufacturing or packaging environment
- Operate a labeling machine
- Perform first line maintenance
- Operate the packing/unpacking process
- Operate a coding process
- Perform quality control practices
Suitable for . . . - People who operate, control and maintain food or beverage packaging machinery in a primary or secondary packaging process within a food manufacturing environment.
- Persons requiring a qualification in the primary packaging process within a specific food or beverage context.
Also suitable for learners wishing to articulate to other manufacturing environments such as fast-moving consumable products, the pharmaceutical, and chemical industries. Candidate Requirements
