Dionysus partners with Barrows Retail Marketing Specialists Dionysus recently had the opportunity to partner with Barrows Retail Marketing Specialists and launch the National Certificate: Management (NQF Level 3) Learnership for fourteen employed learners at the Springfield Durban site. The Learnership is designed to maximise the learner experience and is conducted over 4 consecutive days, with the 5th day to assist learners to compose their Portfolios of Evidence (PoE’s). Initially close on 25 learners were assessed by Dionysus so as to give Barrows an indication of the correct NQF level and to assist in the selection process. The intervention has now started and Dionysus is looking forward to Barrows bringing on a second Level 3 group and possibly a Level 4 group. Specialist Dionysus facilitators are used to present the six modules over the twelve month period. The learning materials have been specially customised for Barrows, which results in more applicability of the learning and “stickiness”. During an interview with the Dionysus Programme manager, Seth Baise, he indicated that feedback has been extremely positive. He said that it was always a challenge to take fourteen technical employees and place them in a learning environment for 8 hours a day and for 5 continuous days, but having completed two modules to date, he was very pleased with the progress and quality of the learners work. He pointed out that it was also a big ask from the employer and extended his thanks to Keith and Vasie at Barrows - it’s not often one sees this degree of commitment and support from an employer. He indicated that the learners on the Management Learnership come from diverse technical backgrounds and operate a range of machines, pipe benders and spot welders to name but a few. Most have extensive experience within the business (average of 10 years) and some manage machinery, operators and/or small teams. We look forward to developing them into the Managers of the Future. |
