| Dionysus Attends ASTD Conference |
|
American Society for Training and Development Tuesday 22nd March saw 12 members of the Dionysus team all packed up and crammed into a minibus heading Everyone was in high spirits on arrival at Kayley Lodge where the team was staying. The music was blaring and the bus was jumping, literally! The view from the two units we occupied was breathtaking whilst the units themselves were very comfortable. As soon as they were settled Seth organised a putt-putt tournament. Some unique/individual styles were observed, especially from Linda and Pieter. Seth handed out certificates to the people with the most luggage, the last person on the bus, etc. This ensured that everyone obeyed all his rules, something that is necessary with 12 very different personalities and quirks! Despite a berg storm, Seth braaied supper for the whole team – shows what good experience he gets at home! Everyone was in a relaxed mood and the laughter was heard late into the night.
The Dionysus team were excited to find that Irene James, the Dionysus M.D. has ideas and plans for the future which are in line with what the rest of the world is advocating.
The theme of the conference was 'Growing Competent Leaders for Africa' The conference venue was fantastic, suitable large rooms, interesting presentations and fabulous food. A number of companies exhibited their products and services. Dionysus staff however, a little disappointed to find no book sellers. A dinner dance was held on the Thursday evening giving everyone an opportunity to relax and enjoy each other’s company. There were local and international speakers which gave the team an opportunity to mix with other people from the training industry and hear of the latest developments. |
